Reserve and Guard Advocacy
For members of the ROA from all seven service branches in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming.
For members of the ROA from all seven service branches in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming.
The Reserve Organization of America (ROA) is America’s only congressionally chartered advocate dedicated exclusively to community advocacy for the Reserve and National Guard services. The ROA fully supports reserve communities, veterans, and their families, ensuring these forces remain prepared to serve the nation. Membership is available to all ranks within the uniformed services, including both enlisted personnel and officers.
The Department of Northwest serves All members of the Reserve and National Guard from all seven service branches. The department serves these personnel in the states of Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming, and those that maintain their ROA membership with our department but live outside our five state area. Our department roster represents over 1700 members of the Reserve and National Guard forces.
The Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program is a Department of Defense-wide assistance for National Guard and Reserve members, their families, and communities following, before, and after deployment. It addresses the unique challenges facing the Guard and Reserve community, including living away from military support networks and fewer deployment resources than the Active Component.
These events support military members and families with local resources on health care, education/training opportunities, and financial and legal benefits. Community partners provide resources to help prepare and guide attendees through the hardships of deployment, then enable service members to successfully reintegrate back into their families, communities and careers. Each Reserve Component implements the Yellow Ribbon Program to meet the unique needs of their service culture and in accordance with the DoD Instruction 1342.28.
ROA Members have a table as a community partner/vendor to provide information on the ROA STARs school kits that allows family members to easily inform the school of a deployed member and requests the school contact the family if they see behavior changes in the student. We also provide information on the ROA Law Library which can answer questions on re-employment issues. ROA is the only organization that has a Law Library.
The next scheduled Yellow Ribbon events are listed on our calendar below.
We're inviting all eligible military connected children or grandchildren between the ages of 10 and 14 years old to tell us in 500 words or less how your family's military service has helped to protect our nation. Entries are accepted through June 15, 2026, with prizes up to $1,000 for the winning essays. Don’t miss out!
